Club Kensington

November 6th, 2013

The update of the future of Club Kensington is not promising as we had received the word that the Club will not re-open.

I am sorry for any inconvenience it has caused, as it certainly has for me as not even receiving any pre-warning.
I am still available for private training which I am currently doing in Home and Parks.

As for the classes I am currently looking at option that is convenient for us. I have a list that I will be working through.

If you know any space, place or contact please let me know as this will be greatly appreciated.
Time to be proactive and not to look in the past but only to the future.
Life does have its twists and turns but its how we deal with this.
I will not be defeated.

Thanks for your support and understanding.
Hope to see you all soon.

Best
Nick

Black Belt Grading

September 18th, 2013
The Black Belt test
I woke up this morning after a good night sleep and had a hot bath to relax the body and the mind. Even though I know and done the training over a period of time but now it’s to control all the emotions that goes… with it when grading or competing.
I arrived at the Academy and kick off was around noon.
The grading consisted off
Warm up Shadow box
Single stick shadow work
Single stick vs single stick (Numerado)
Single stick and knife vs single stick and knife ( Numerado)
Progressive indirect attack to control or takedown (P.I.A)
Knife vs knife (Palasut) Knife vs empty hand  free fight to disarm
Pad work
10 x rounds of sparring
Then to top that off I had to get accepted by the Black belts with a tunnel of belts that had been folded to be slapped onto my midsection. Not nice but worth it.
I am pleased to say that I arrived to Guro Mike Krause after the tunnel of Black Belts in one piece to receive the honory black belt in Kmax – Jun Fan Gun Fu and other related Arts.
I would like to thank you all for your support and a big thanks to all the crew at Krause World Academy of Martial Arts. It has been an honor training under you guys. I have learnt a lot and still growing. Look forward to the next session. If any of you are ever in London don’t hesitate to get in contact. This goes for anyone and everyone. We are all striving to get to that top of the peak which ever path we take.
Sincerely Nick Wood

No classes this Saturday

September 11th, 2013

This coming weekend, Friday 13th and Saturday 14th of September, there will not be any classes as I am testing for my Jeet Kune Do Black Belt grading in Glasgow, Scotland.

I apologise for any inconvenience. Classes will be back to normal and from Monday 16th September.

However,  you are more than welcome to go in and hang a bag up or do some partner training if you wish.

I hope to see you all this week.

Poem by Guro Dan Inosanto

September 11th, 2013
We are all climbing different paths through the mountain of life, and we have all experienced much hardship and strife. There are many paths through the mountain of life, and some climbs can be felt like the point of a knife. Some paths are short and others are long, who can say which path is right or wrong? The beauty of truth is that each path has its own song, and if you listen closely you will find where you belong. So climb your own path true and strong, but respect all other truths for your way for them could be wrong. – Dan Inosanto

Hope you all are enjoying the Summer break wherever you are and what ever you are doing.
I am having a blast in the States. Meeting new and catching up with old friends.
Also hope you are getting in some form of exercise in. Even though I’m corrupting my body with convenient food and booze from time to time on holiday I still need to balance out training with the rest and play. This makes it easier to get back into training as it is not long now until I am back in London.
Train smart, rest well and most of all have fun.

Nick in the USA part 6

I had my last training experience at the Inosanto Academy today.
10:30-12pm Filipino Kali
6-7pm Muay Thai
7-8pm Silat
8-9:30pm Filipino Kali.
Overall I had an amazing time training with new friends and under the legendary Dan Inosanto and his talented and well respected Instructors.
I have learned new techniques and drills for me to take back to London to fine tune. I had a great time in LA overall. The weather and people have been very welcoming.
I thank you.

6-7pm kickboxing
7-8pm BJJ
8-9pm JKD
9-10pm wrestling
Time to retire for the eve. It’s hard work to lift up my arms at this present time.
