Weapon Threat Awareness
Awareness-led training focused on recognising risk managing distance when weapons are present.
Weapon Threat Awareness Training
By the end of the programme, participants will feel more confident in everyday situations, know how to set boundaries, and stay calm under pressure. They’ll learn to recognise risks and respond safely.
The course focuses on hands-on practice, helping confidence grow through doing. All physical activities are age-appropriate, carefully supervised, and centred on safety and confidence rather than force.
What You’ll Develop:
• Recognition of weapon-related risk and pre-incident indicators
• Understanding distance, positioning, and environmental awareness
• Decision-making under stress and uncertainty
• Verbal boundary-setting and de-escalation strategies
• Movement, escape, and disengagement priorities
• Contextual physical responses as a last resort
• Post-incident considerations and personal safety recovery principles
**All training is grounded in responsibility, legality, and proportionate response. The focus is on understanding risk and reducing exposure, not on fighting or confrontation.
Who This Training is For:
• Adults seeking a clearer understanding of weapon-related personal safety risk
• Professionals and public-facing individuals with increased exposure
• Organisations seeking awareness-based risk education

Progression & Prerequisites
Weapon Threat Awareness is an advanced awareness programme and is designed to build on the foundations developed in the Personal Safety & Self-Defence modules.
Participants are expected to have prior experience in movement, boundary-setting, and escape-based personal safety training to ensure learning is delivered safely and responsibly.
Module 1 — Weapon Threat Awareness Distance & Decision Making
Avoidance before engagement
Duration: 90 minutes
Price: £85 per participant
Practical focus:
• Recognising potential weapon-related risk indicators
• Understanding distance, positioning, and environmental factors
• Movement and positioning to prioritise avoidance and disengagement
• Using barriers, exits, and surroundings to reduce exposure
• Decision-making under pressure and uncertainty
• Repetition of common urban scenarios focused on awareness and choice
Why this matters:
Most failures in weapon-related incidents occur before physical contact, due to delayed recognition and poor decision-making.
Module 2 — Movement, Disengagement & Environmental Use
Safety through positioning and mobility
Duration: 90 minutes
Price: £95 per participant
Practical focus:
• Footwork and movement to maintain space
• Creating and managing distance safely
• Using obstacles, exits, and terrain to limit risk
• Responding to pursuit or pressure scenarios
• Repetition under controlled conditions
• Graduated stress exposure through supervised drills
Key principle:
If movement and disengagement are possible, they should always be prioritised.
Module 3 — Last-Resort Physical Responses (Close-Range)
Reducing harm when escape is not immediately possible
Duration: 90 minutes
Price: £110 per participant
Practical focus:
• Protecting vulnerable areas and maintaining structure
• Managing contact with a weapon-bearing limb
• Clinch-based survival principles
• Balance, base, and controlled off-balancing
• Creating opportunities to disengage safely
• High-repetition, low-complexity responses
Important framing:
This module focuses on harm reduction and escape — not dominance, confrontation, or “winning”.
Module 4 — Grounded Weapon Threats & Recovery
Managing worst-case scenarios responsibly
Duration: 90 minutes
Price: £110 per participant
Practical focus:
• Responding to weapon-related threats while grounded
• Protecting the head and torso under pressure
• Creating space to disengage
• Standing safely while managing risk
• Controlled stress exposure under close supervision
• Repetition from multiple starting positions
Why this matters:
Grounded incidents are unpredictable and disorienting. This module builds composure, structure, and safer decision making under stress.
